Job summary

Westgate Gardens Care Center in the United States is seeking an experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). This leadership role supports the Director of Nursing across a 24-hour skilled nursing operation, focusing on resident safety, regulatory compliance, staff development, and high-quality, resident-centered care.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
Current California LVN license in good standing.
Current CPR certification.
Three to five years of nursing-management experience preferred.
Skilled nursing or long-term care leadership experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of resident care, survey readiness, infection prevention, staffing, and regulatory compliance.
Experience with PointClickCare or another electronic health‑record system preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Assist the Director of Nursing with planning, organizing, developing, and supervising Nursing Department operations.
Help develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, objectives, and systems.
Promote high-quality care while protecting residents’ rights, dignity, safety, and well-being.
Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor residents for changes in condition.
Ensure changes in condition are assessed, documented, communicated, and addressed promptly.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, and retaining nursing staff.
Provide leadership, coaching, education, and performance feedback to licensed nurses and CNAs.
Assist with evaluations, counseling, and performance-improvement actions.
Monitor staffing levels and nursing‑department coverage.
Serve as a clinical and administrative resource to nursing staff.
Back up the Director of Nursing and provide leadership in the DON's absence.
Provide direct resident care when necessary and within LVN scope.
Communicate professionally with residents, families, physicians, and staff.
Participate in care planning, incident investigations, infection prevention, QA, and PIR activities.
Support surveys and corrective action plans.
Review nursing documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Lead staff meetings, in-service education, and competency training.
