Job summary

BronxWorks seeks a dedicated program assistant for adolescent development programs in Bronx, NY. The role contributes to after-school and summer activities that build literacy, life skills, and social development for youth aged 13 to 17.

The position emphasizes supervision, lesson planning, and collaboration with families and staff. A high school diploma is required, with two years of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred.
• At least two years of direct experience working with children under age 13 years.
• Experience with or knowledge of Whole Language teaching philosophy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise participant groups and create and implement activities under the guidance of an Activity Specialist or Content Specialist.
• Create a nurturing and supportive environment for the youth.
• Supervise participants.
• Implement various recreational, educational, social, and team building activities.
• Provide classroom management and instruction.
• Act as a liaison with parents.
• Attend regular staff meetings.
• Attend First Aid, CPR, and Responding to Emergency training.
• Attend staff training sessions.
• Meet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
