Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in insurance verification and authorization.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurance regulations as they apply to admission.
• Understanding of medical terminology and EMR in registration processes.

Responsibilities

• Register patients in the computer system with emphasis on accurate demographic and financial data.
• Enter or validate demographic information from prior registrations and update as needed.
• Enter notes related to billing, collecting, or patient registration.
• Review physician orders for diagnosis, service type, and signature; enter information accordingly.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorization per insurance rules.
• Obtain signatures from patient/representative and explain consent forms (Conditions of Service, Advanced Directives, Medicare notices).
• Maintain day-to-day functions within a small team.
