Stevens Institute of Technology, a premier private research university located in Hoboken, New Jersey, overlooking the Manhattan skyline, is seeking a dynamic and student-focused Admissions Counselor to join the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. With a commitment to preparing over 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students for an increasingly complex and technology-driven world, Stevens leverages a multidisciplinary approach that integrates finance, computing, engineering, and the arts to address society's most pressing challenges through innovative teaching and research.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage an assigned first-year recruitment territory, developing and implementing strategic recruitment plans to meet enrollment goals.

  • Represent Stevens Institute of Technology at high schools, college fairs, community based organizations, on-campus events, virtual programs, and other recruitment activities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, community partners, and alumni.

  • Counsel prospective students and families throughout the admissions process via email, phone, virtual appointments, and in-person meetings.

  • Review undergraduate applications and supporting credentials, evaluate applicants holistically, and make admissions recommendations and decisions in accordance with university policies.

  • Utilize Slate CRM to manage territory communications, recruitment activities, prospective student engagement, and application review.

  • Analyze recruitment territory trends and enrollment data to identify opportunities and inform recruitment strategies.

  • Demonstrates an appreciation for and experience utilizing technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance operations, improve processes, increase efficiency and support innovation across the unit.

  • Assist with planning and executing recruitment and yield initiatives, including open houses, admitted student programs, campus visits, virtual events, and other admissions programs.

  • Support recruitment efforts for special populations and strategic initiatives, including transfer, international, campus experience, pre-college, and other enrollment priorities as needed.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Undergraduate Admissions, the Division of Enrollment Management, and campus partners to provide a seamless experience for prospective students.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Admissions Counselors will be expected to :


  • Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

  • Support the university's commitment to inclusive excellence by fostering a welcoming and equitable admissions experience for all students.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and customer service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Travel extensively throughout assigned recruitment territories during peak recruitment seasons.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends in support of recruitment travel, on-campus programs, and virtual events.

Preferred Qualifications


  • One to three years of undergraduate admissions or related higher education experience (e.g., Admissions Counselor, Student Ambassador, Tour Guide, Orientation Leader).

  • Experience managing a recruitment territory.

  • Experience reviewing undergraduate applications in a holistic admissions process.

  • Experience using Slate CRM.

Compensation Range

In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $47,600.00 - $63,466.67. This range represents the University's good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position's scope and responsibilities, the candidate's experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations.
