Norfolk State University seeks an Admissions Counselor to represent the university at college fairs, high school visits, and community engagements. The role involves travel across the state and beyond, building relationships with counselors, students, and alumni recruiters, and supporting recruitment strategies year-round.
You will evaluate applications, provide recommendations, and maintain timely communications.
Represent the university at college fairs, high school visits, and other community engagements. Follow-up visits with appropriate correspondence/contact with counselors and students. Develop relationships with key contacts in assigned territory, including alumni recruiters. Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for future programming. Requires travel both in state and out-of-state for the university, including weekends. Represents the Office of Admissions at special events, on and off campus, including but not limited to Open House, NSU Round-Up, School Counselor events and etc. Assists in developing and implementing strategies and programming, particularly for bringing more students to visit campus throughout the year, and for increasing yield in general. Support leadership by assisting with coordination and implementation of events. Communicate with applicants who need to submit additional documents or updated credentials. Provide admissions presentations to campus visitors. Participate in other electronic marketing communications as needed. Assists in the development and implementation of recruitment activities centered on electronic communications, and mobile and social networks. Ensures responses are provided to e-mails and voicemails within 48 business hours of receipt. Represent the University by providing accurate and detailed information to prospective students, their families and school counselors throughout the country. Accurately review undergraduate admission applications and evaluate applicant credentials to determine admissibility to the university based on established criteria for admission. Update Colleague with student data, entering admissions decisions and comments as needed. Develop relationships with key contacts in assigned territory, including alumni recruiters. Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for future programming. Requires travel both in-state and out-of-state for the university, including weekends.
The starting Salary for this position is $40,000.
