Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking an Authorization Specialist to obtain all necessary authorizations per guidelines, verify eligibility, gather benefit information, and generate authorization letters. You will respond to Member Services and Call Center inquiries and resolve any authorization issues that arise.

This role requires strong customer service, proficiency with a multi-line phone system, data entry skills, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be able to work weekends/holidays.
• Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scanner.
• Demonstrated experience using multi-line telephone system.
• Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
• Ability to make simple calculations and perform simple math.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
• Ability to effectively read, write and speak English.
