Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred in healthcare admin or business admin; high school diploma accepted.
  • Experience in hospital admissions/registration/scheduling/referrals is preferred (0–1 year).
  • Must be proficient with computers and medical terminology; strong communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and collect personal and medical information for admission.
  • Review admission requests for eligibility and appropriateness.
  • Document patient information in the system and ensure accuracy before admission.
  • Coordinate admissions with healthcare providers, insurers and other parties.
  • Verify insurance coverage and resolve related issues with patients and families.
  • Assist patients and families with any questions about the admissions process.

Helps to determine whether the patient will be admitted. Review patients' medical benefits and financial responsibility forms.
