Job summary

North Shore Medical Center, Inc. is seeking an Admissions Clerk to arrange for the efficient admission of inpatients and outpatient testing or procedures.

The role ensures accurate collection of patient information, informs patients about hospital policies, interviews incoming patients or representatives, and enters data into the computer system. The position involves interaction with multiple departments and CQI participation.

Qualifications

  • Read, write and speak English required; additional languages a plus.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical ability for numbers and situations.
  • Typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Familiarity with medical billing, managed care and other medical insurance.
  • Previous office experience or training with keyboard and computer equipment.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Associate Degree in business or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange for the efficient admission of inpatients and hospital-based outpatient testing or procedures.
  • Ensure patient information is collected and patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Interview incoming patient or representatives and enter information required for admission into computer database.
