Introduction

Position Details

LOCATION OF POSITION: Department of Maryland State Police, 51 – Frederick Barrack, 110 Airport Drive East, Frederick, MD 21701

Main Purpose of Job

This position supports all criminal investigative work for the Frederick Barrack, which has roughly 40 sworn personnel. The incumbent is responsible for all UCR statistics (monthly and annually), all expungement requests, court-ordered subpoenas for investigative records, and transmission of investigative files for trial at the request of investigators and prosecutors. This position handles logistics related to investigative files, including auditing, inspection, and retention. The person acts as a liaison for the Central Records Division and CJIS's audit and inspections for juvenile retention and Live Scan imaging.

Position Duties
  • Administrative Duties: Review and analyze reports and documents to obtain necessary information for recording in the Uniform Crime Reporting System. Verify information, enter data into the computer, and process reports through four stages for filing. Manage invoice and fund processing, incident reports, crime inventory, and juvenile justice liaison activities.
  • Compliance/Adherence Duties: File, audit, inspect, and purge files for the Central Records Division, process court-ordered fingerprint cards, handle expungement requests, prepare responses to subpoenas, and conduct inspections. Also handle juvenile audits and miscellaneous requests.
  • Other Duties: Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative, clerical, clerical-technical, or secretarial work.

Notes: Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours or military service involving staff work for the required experience.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Experience drafting and typing administrative correspondence, reports, and letters.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

Employees may be required to operate a motor vehicle and must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license.

Special Requirements

Candidates may need to provide their own transportation for certain duties.

Selection Process

Only candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be considered. Candidates will be categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for at least one year. The process includes a review of education, training, experience, and possibly a physical exam, interview, background check, polygraph, and substance testing.
