Job description

Medical Assistant II - Outreach Midwife Clinic (Cedar Rapids/Washington)

University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Medical Assistant II to work at the Cedar Rapids Outreach Midwife Clinic on Wednesdays from 8-5 and at the Washington Outreach Midwife Clinic on Fridays from 8-5. No weekends or call required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing technical, patient care, and related clerical functions under the direct supervision of a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse.
  • Utilizing electronic and conventional office equipment as needed.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant, completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, or a healthcare profession program including elements such as pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, and medication administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Experience with University of Iowa Health Care as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Completion of an ABHES or CAAHEP accredited Medical Assistant program, graduation from an accredited college, or LPN licensure.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Strong public contact and customer service skills.
