Department Mission

The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.

Position Summary

The Administrative Specialist II is responsible for researching and preparing reports, examining and verifying documents, and performing general office duties. This role is governed by applicable laws and policies.

Key Functions
  • Researches data and compiles reports.
  • Prepares correspondence and maintains logs and financial records.
  • Reviews documents for accuracy and compliance, makes corrections, and assigns file numbers.
  • Provides information and assistance regarding policies and procedures.
  • Assists in policy development and revises procedures based on research findings.
  • Compiles financial data for budget proposals and expenditure monitoring.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of record keeping, mathematics, statistics, and computer applications.
  • Ability to conduct research, compile data, and establish filing systems.
  • Ability to operate office equipment and analyze documents for compliance.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of relevant experience. Additional education or experience may substitute the basic requirements with approval.
