Job summary

Orange County Government in Florida seeks a clerical support specialist to provide administrative assistance to the assigned division. You will handle day-to-day office tasks, communicate with county staff, and support payroll/timesheet processes.

Strong data entry and confidentiality are essential. The role requires a high school diploma and at least two years of clerical experience, with preference for typing speed of 40 WPM and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Typing at 40 words per minute; PC experience with word processing, spreadsheets, or presentation software.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an information resource for County employees and the general public on routine matters.
  • Routes visitors to appropriate staff members and requested location.
  • Performs routine clerical and receptionist duties, e.g., mail distribution, filing, scheduling, and processing standard forms.
  • Participates in emergency activities/response.
  • Coordinates with Division staff to complete payroll/Kronos timesheets.
  • Handles confidential information securely.
  • Performs data entry as applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

This position is responsible for coordinating and providing administrative/clerical support to the assigned division/section.

The role is responsible for assisting with day to day functions of the assigned area and for performing a variety of office support tasks including communicating with internal county staff.

Work is performed under the direct supervision of direct supervisor is reviewed based on accuracy, timeliness and effectiveness of results achieved.

Representative Duties/Assignments

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Serves as an information resource for County employees and general public on routine matters.
  • Routes visitors to appropriate staff members and requested location
  • Performs a variety of routine clerical and receptionist duties, e.g., mail distribution, filing, appointment/meeting scheduling, purchase orders, completing standard county forms and reviewing documents etc.
  • Participates in emergency activities/response.
  • Coordinate with Division staff to complete payroll / Kronos timesheets.
  • Responsible for handling confidential information and keeping it secure
  • Performs data entry as applicable
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) years of clerical or secretarial experience.

An equivalent combination of education or experience may be substituted.

Preferences

Ability to type at a rate of 40 correct words per minute.

PC experience with word processing, spreadsheet or presentation software.

Pay Grade: 010 - From $18.10 to $20.54
