Job summary

Orange County Government is offering an onsite internship to support research projects related to operational practices, policies, and process improvement. You will assist with audit-related fieldwork, data collection, and analysis while developing reports and dashboards for internal use.

The role requires enrollment in an accredited college and pursuit of a degree in business, data analytics, public administration, or related fields. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a degree in Business Management, Accounting, Public Administration, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Hospitality and Tourism Management, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research projects related to operational practices, policies, procedures, industry standards, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with audit-related fieldwork, including observations, data collection, documentation, and review of supporting records.
  • Collect, organize, validate, and analyze operational and fiscal data.
  • Assist with identifying trends, discrepancies, exceptions, and other areas requiring additional review.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets, trackers, and other tools used to organize and analyze information.
  • Assist with documenting existing business processes, procedures, and workflows.
  • Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with data reconciliation and validation across reports, spreadsheets, databases, and other records.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, charts, and visual presentation materials for internal use.
  • Assist with tracking project findings, recommendations, action items, and follow-up activities.
  • Participate in meetings, operational observations, and project discussions with various Convention Center teams.
  • Assist with special projects and other assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in one of the following areas:

  • Business Management
  • Accounting
  • Public Administration
  • Data Analytics
  • Business Administration
  • Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • Or a closely related field
Preferences

Experience With Microsoft Excel Is Preferred.

  • Coursework or experience in data analysis, business operations, accounting, auditing, research, process improvement, quality assurance, public administration, or hospitality operations is preferred.
  • An interest in process improvement, quality assurance, fiscal and operational support, research, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies, trends, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Information

Pay Grade: 406 - From $16.40 to $16.95

FLSA Status: Placement based on Education and Experience

Notes

This is an onsite internship requiring approximately 20-25 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Work hours will be established based on operational needs and the selected candidate's academic schedule.
