Job summary

Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking an experienced administrative officer to coordinate office services including budget requests, records control, and procurement. The role supports program efforts by providing technical administrative advice and improving workflow.

The candidate will supervise staff, develop policies, prepare work plans, and interpret regulations to ensure a smooth operation. Strong budgeting, accounting, and data analysis skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a four-year college with major in political science, public or business administration, or a related field, plus four (4) years managerial work experience dealing with personnel, procurement, and budgetary matters.
  • Considerable experience in public or business administration, personnel, budgeting, or procurement, (at least eight (8) years) which includes at least one (1) year work experience as an Administrative Officer III or a related capacity.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration/business administration.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and report writing.
  • Knowledge of supervision, and the ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, clear, complete, and concise reports.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate administrative functions including budgetary requests, records control, and other general services.
  • Serve as an integral member of the office management team providing technical administrative advice.
  • Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures for effective operation.
  • Prepare work plans and schedules; interpret regulations and policies.
  • Study departmental methods and recommend improvements to workflow and reporting.
  • Conduct studies, collect information, analyze findings, and prepare practical solutions.
  • Collect, analyze, and compare data and trends; prepare reports with observations and recommendations.
  • Coordinate time and attendance records, budgetary expenditures, and other statistical data.
  • Supervise subordinate personnel; assign and review work for accuracy and completeness.
