Job summary

University of Maryland's Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC) is seeking an administrative support professional to manage office operations, calendar scheduling, and event logistics. You will greet visitors, screen calls, and coordinate multiple departmental activities with strict attention to detail.

The role requires 2 years of administrative experience, proficiency in MS Office/Google Workspace, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of and skill in the practical application of generally accepted office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to proofread and edit written documents.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple assignments with general instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with scheduling the Director’s appointments and meetings and maintain the ESSIC Room Reservation Calendar using Google Calendar.
  • Coordinate departmental events and handle event logistics, catering and setup.
  • Place orders for office and event supplies; reconcile vouchers and process payments.
  • Coordinate facilities requests and manage maintenance tasks; upkeep of lobby, kitchen and common areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
