Job Description

Under general supervision, performs complex administrative support on day-to-day operational matters in an operations, corporate services, or sales area. Interacts and resolves issues which may be sensitive and confidential in nature. Collaborates with others, acting as liaison between management and other business units.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines, including assisting management in coordinating organizational activities such as performance reviews, cost center updates, and customer issues. Resolves problems independently and proactively within scope of authority.
  • Drafts, prepares, and distributes correspondence, memos, and reports using office technologies and software applications.
  • Collaborates with internal and external contacts regarding business unit administration issues and concerns.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, travel arrangements, and maintains business calendars.
  • Prepares, processes, and may submit reports related to timekeeping and payroll; may train staff or management on administrative processes.
  • May lead, mentor, and train other staff.
  • Establishes and maintains official documents and records.
  • Assists management with special projects and attends meetings or seminars as needed, recording notes or providing information.
  • Provides backup support to other Administrative Assistants and assists in other functional areas as required.
Reporting Relationship

Typically reports to a Supervisor or above.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional phone etiquette.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal and external partners at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other business-related software systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of the insurance industry and related business units.
Education and Experience
  • Some college coursework in Marketing, Business, Accounting, etc., is desirable.
  • Typically a minimum of four years of strong administrative experience.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, the salary range is $35,000 to $65,000 annually.
