Responsibilities
- You will process initial, renewal, endorsement, reexamination, reinstatement, and other applications for the Barber and Cosmetology Boards (via paper and online) utilizing applicable databases and software and according to policies and procedures.
- You will review and evaluate documents and ensure all necessary requirements for licensure are completed.
- You will assemble, prepare, and scan documents into the system and maintain the applicable database with accurate information and records.
- You will respond to customer inquiries received by telephone, fax, e-mails, and other methods (including walk-ins) providing timely and accurate responses to the Barbers and Cosmetology application and licensing processes.
- You will perform a variety of other administrative, technical, and/or clerical duties to support the processes and functions of the Barber and Cosmetology programs such as preparing letters, processing finance requests, retention schedules, online verifications, and continuing education audits.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of principles and practices of office management and general administrative functions.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Considerable skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and Microsoft products.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow routine and complex instructions.
Other Requirements
- Position works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing.
- May require occasional work outside of normal office hours.
- May be required to lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use.
