Responsibilities
- You will provide technical and specialized professional services for the Boards of Barber and Cosmetology, including being responsible for the financial operations for the Boards.
- You will be responsible for supervising and training a staff that provides administrative support and licensing functions to these Boards.
- You will serve as the point of contact and coordinator for the continuing education providers for these Boards, associations, and schools.
- You will communicate with testing services to provide data for individuals testing and receiving scores for examinations as part of the licensing process.
- You will perform other duties relative to processing licensure applications, assisting with board meetings, receiving and responding to inquiries about the application/licensing processes, and providing timely and accurate information and responses.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma and relevant program experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of applicable state laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to the Barber and Cosmetology programs.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying relevant laws, regulations, policies and procedures with licensees and applicants.
- Ability to follow complex instructions.
- Considerable skills in regards to office equipment and computers.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
Other Requirements
- Position works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing.
- Daily records filing and use of computers and telephones.
- Occasional work outside of normal Agency hours.
- May be required to lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
