Job Description Summary

The Philosophy Department is searching for adjunct instructors toteach daytime or evening sections of Problems of Philosophy (PH101), and possibly other courses, in the upcoming Fall and Springsemesters.

Problems of Philosophy is a required course in Bentley's generaleducation core curriculum. Students are required to learn the basicelements of ethics; other elements of the course design are up tothe instructor. In addition to the usual teaching duties (e.g.,lecturing, facilitating discussion, grading), instructors areexpected to respond to student inquiries and hold office hours (atleast one hour per week). Adjunct faculty positions are ongoing pooled positions. Candidates'materials will remain on file and will be reviewed on an as-neededbasis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have at least an M.A. in Philosophy. Preferencewill be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Philosophy.

Salary Range:

Compensation for adjunct faculty is governed by the collectivebargaining agreement between Bentley University and the ServiceEmployees International Union (SEIU) Local 509.

For the 2025–26 academic year, adjunct faculty are compensatedat a rate of $7,225.00 per course.

Courses with labs and other four-credit courses shall will becompensated at a higher minimum rate of $9,333.00 per course.
