Job summary

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach physics courses to undergraduate students, conducting lectures and laboratories with knowledge of online instruction.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Physics or a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in physics, plus college teaching experience. Moodle experience is preferred, with a flexible schedule including day, evening, and hybrid formats.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Physics or related area with at least 18 graduate semester hours in physics from an accredited institution.
College teaching experience in physics.
Experience in Moodle software.

Responsibilities

Instruction of lecture and lab sections of courses in the areas of Applied, Conceptual, and General Physics.
Teach physics lectures and laboratories in a variety of times/formats (day, evening, and hybrid).
Supervise students in the classroom and lab setting.
Develop class syllabus, teaching materials, activities, and handouts for each section/class taught.
Prepare and deliver lectures;
Research and maintain currency in the related areas of expertise through professional development activities.
Advance use of technology within the Department.
Utilize innovative techniques for instruction in physics.
Instruct students in laboratory safety.
Abide by all policies, standards, goals and objectives of the College, the Arts & Sciences Division, and the Department.
Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities to improve instructional quality.
Maintain accurate student records.

Job Description Summary

An instructor in this position will conduct college courses for undergraduate students in physics courses. This individual must possess the knowledge and skills to teach and supervise students in the classroom and laboratory. The individual must also possess knowledge of online instruction.
