Job description

The Adjunct Instructor, Marketing, is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in assigned business courses on a part-time, temporary basis. The instructor facilitates student learning through effective teaching practices, curriculum delivery, assessment of student performance, and engagement in activities that support student success.

Instruction and Student Learning
  • Deliver effective, engaging instruction in accordance with approved course outcomes and departmental standards.
  • Prepare thoroughly for each class session utilizing appropriate instructional methods and technology.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional classroom, laboratory, or online learning environment.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered learning environment.
  • Evaluate student performance through appropriate assessment methods and provide timely feedback on assignments, projects, and examinations.
  • Counsel and assist students regarding academic progress, course performance, and available resources for success.
Course Development and Assessment
  • Develop and maintain course materials that support established learning outcomes.
  • Design and implement instructional schedules, assignments, and learning activities aligned with course objectives.
  • Utilize assessment results in improving teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
  • Ensure course content remains current, relevant, and aligned with industry trends and employer needs.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
  • Meet all instructional, administrative, and reporting deadlines.
  • Collaborate with department faculty and administrators to support program quality and continuous improvement.
  • Remain current in business practices, instructional technologies, and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Participate in professional development activities and departmental meetings as appropriate.

Adjunct faculty are assigned courses based on departmental needs, qualifications, enrollment, and scheduling requirements. Courses may be offered during daytime, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid formats.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Discipline (Marketing and Retailing) OR
  • Associate’s degree, Marketing and Retailing and demonstrated competencies in Discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree, Marketing and Retailing OR Master's degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Marketing and Retailing
  • One (1) year or more of teaching experience in Marketing or a related discipline at the college, university, or workforce-training level.
  • Experience teaching in online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face learning environments.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferably Blackboard Ultra and/or Canvas.
  • Experience integrating instructional technology and business or marketing software applications into teaching.
  • Professional experience in marketing and retail or related fields.
