Job summary

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for Baking and Pastry Arts. This continuous posting helps build an applicant pool for potential openings. Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts or related field.
  • Three years professional culinary experience working at upscale facilities in the capacity of Pastry Chef or Executive Pastry Chef.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Evidence of Baking and Pastry competency, which may include ACF certifications as Certified Working Pastry Chef or Certified Executive Pastry Chef, verification by success in ACF sanctioned competitions and/or established track record of high performance in well-regarded baking operations as Head Baker/Pastry Chef, Executive Pastry Chef, etc.
  • Eligible for or in possession of American Culinary Federation ( ACF ) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full range of technical skills and principles relative to Baking and Pastry Arts.
  • Apply and maintain sanitation and safety standards and uniform requirements in the classroom and lab environments.
  • Maintain accurate records in required format for audit purposes.
  • All classes are taught on the Main Campus.
  • Classes may be day or evening.

Job Description Summary

Duties

Teach a full range of technical skills and principles relative to Baking and Pastry Arts. Preferred Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in Baking and Pastry or related field plus five years’ experience working at upscale facilities in the capacity of Pastry Chef or Executive Pastry Chef;
  • Well versed and experience in culinary competitions;
  • Experience teaching in higher education;
  • Industry recognized certifications.
