Job summary

The Math Tutoring Lab at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College seeks a part-time tutor to assist students in all levels of mathematics, including developmental courses. You will work in a fast-paced lab, provide tutoring to students of diverse backgrounds, supervise Lab Aides and Peer Tutors, and help enforce campus policies while delivering professional and helpful support.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, with significant coursework in Math or a related field.
Experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting and/or successful prior work experience in an environment applicable to the current position.
Patience and the ability to multi-task.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Patience and ability to multi-task.
Basic computer skills and the ability to use a graphing calculator.

Job Description Summary

The Math Tutoring Lab in the Tutoring Center provides tutoring and individual assistance to A-B Tech students in all levels of mathematics, including developmental. Assistants assist students with acquiring the skills necessary to succeed in their coursework. Assistants work directly with the students in a fast-paced, busy lab. Assistants provide tutoring to students of various abilities and backgrounds. Assistants supervise tutoring lab Aides and Peer Tutors. Assistants implement and enforce TC and A-B Tech policies, procedures, and guidelines while providing professional, helpful, and reliable assistance to students.

1. Tutor students in all levels of mathematics.
