Job summary

Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA seeks part-time Adjunct instructional faculty to teach 100- and 200-level General Education Composition and Literature courses on campus. The position operates from an adjunct pool to fill courses as needed, with daytime hours often between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Job Description

The English Department at Old Dominion University invitesapplicants for part-time Adjunct instructional faculty teach 100-and 200- level sections of in-person General Education Compositionand Literature courses. We are currently seeking individuals, thispost may remain open for additional applications as opportunitiesarise. Those selected will be hired as part of an adjunct pool,which will be utilized as needed based on which courses are in needof coverage. We tend to have the greatest need for instructors whocan teach daytime, on-campus courses between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM,most often in General Education Composition but sometimes also inGeneral Education Literature.

  • For Literature: ability to teach across genre and periodspecialties and to include a diverse selection of texts andvoices.
  • For Composition: expertise and experience in writing studiespedagogies such as WAC / WID, multi-modality, anti-racism, and/oruniversal design for learning.
