Job description

Title: Adjunct Faculty – Literature & Languages

Location: Arlington, Virginia

Position Type: Part-Time (Adjunct/Contract)

Reports To: School Director

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in assigned discipline.
• Prepare and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction (in-person, hybrid, or online as assigned).
• Maintain office hours (1 hour per class per week) and advise students concerning their coursework.
• Maintain regular communication with students and department leadership.
• Uphold university academic policies and integrity standards.

Required Qualifications

• M.A. or Ph.D. in English or related fields.
• Demonstrated active engagement in pedagogical development and scholarship.
• Strong communication and instructional skills.
• Commitment to inclusive excellence and student success.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior college-level teaching experience.
• Experience with learning management systems and online teaching platforms.
• Professional licensure or industry certifications (where applicable).
• Experience working with diverse and first-generation student populations.

Compensation/Benefits

Adjuncts receive remuneration on a semester basis, at the rate of $1,200 per credit hour, with optional contribution to a 403(b) retirement plan.

Flexible scheduling for working professionals; some positions may be fully remote and asynchronous.
