Job summary

Waubonsee Community College invites qualified engineering professionals to join our adjunct faculty at the Sugar Grove Campus. The position supports a variety of delivery modes including face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats to reach diverse learners.

The successful candidate will teach in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, design, CAD, or related engineering areas, applying real-world expertise to help students develop essential skills and problem-solving abilities for today’s workforce.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering with 18 graduate hours in Engineering.
• Experience teaching CAD, Commercial Architecture, or related fields is preferred.
• Ability to teach in multiple instructional modalities and to integrate technology into teaching.

Responsibilities

• Design syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet course descriptions and outcomes.
• Meet deadlines for attendance, grades, and data collection for assessment of student learning.
• Incorporate learning-centered principles to motivate student participation.
• Integrate instructional technology to deliver and enhance teaching and learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support student needs and community.

Waubonsee Community College is seeking experienced engineering professionals to help prepare the next generation of engineers and technical professionals. Whether your expertise is in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, design, CAD, automation, or other areas of engineering, your real-world experience can make a direct impact on students developing the technical skills and problem-solving abilities needed for today’s workforce.

Adjunctfaculty members are responsible for delivering curriculum, providinginstruction, and performing student learning assessment. The successfulcandidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional andclassroom technology to enhance teaching and learning. Courses atWaubonsee Community College may be offered in various delivery modes including,but not limited to, face-to-face, asynchronous online, synchronous online,hybrid, and flex.

Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Designingsyllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet theestablished course description as well as program, course, and college learningoutcomes and/or objectives while addressing each student’s needs as diverselearners.
• Meeting all college deadlines for submission of attendance, grades and datacollection for assessment of student learning.
• Incorporating learning-centered principles and concepts while motivatingstudents to actively participate in their educational experiences.
• Integrating instructional and classroom technology (if applicable)appropriately and effectively to deliver and enhance teaching and learning.
• Working collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs ofstudents and the community.
• Modeling professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, andinterpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Engineering or related field with 18graduate hours in Engineering.

Preferred Experience

• Teaching CAD, Commercial Architecture, or a related field, at a CommunityCollege or Vocational/Technical institution.
• Teaching traditionally underserved populations.
• Incorporating technology and multimedia applications into teaching and learningprocess.
• Teaching in multiple instructional modalities.
• Utilizing Learning Management Systems.
