Waubonsee Community College seeks an experienced HVAC professional to teach part-time as Adjunct Faculty at the Sugar Grove Campus. Courses may be offered face-to-face, online, hybrid, or flex, leveraging technology to support learning.

Design syllabi and deliver instruction, assess student learning, and collaborate with faculty to serve the community. Prior teaching at a community college is preferred and industry experience is valued.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, HVAC, or related field or an associate’s degree with industry certification and 4000 hours of field experience.
  • Preferred teaching experience in HVAC at a community college or vocational/technical institution.
  • Experience teaching in multiple instructional modalities and leveraging LMS tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments aligned with course outcomes.
  • Meet deadlines for attendance, grades, and data collection for assessment.
  • Apply learning-centered principles and motivate student participation.
  • Integrate instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet student and community needs.
  • Model professionalism with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Waubonsee Community College is seeking experienced HVAC professionals to helptrain the next generation of technicians. Whether your expertise is inresidential service, commercial systems, refrigeration, controls, or industrialmaintenance, your real-world experience can make a direct impact on studentsentering the workforce.


Adjunctfaculty members are responsible for delivering curriculum, providinginstruction, and performing student learning assessment. The successfulcandidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional andclassroom technology to enhance teaching and learning. Courses atWaubonsee Community College may be offered in various delivery modes including,but not limited to, face-to-face, asynchronous online, synchronous online,hybrid, and flex.


Essential functions of this position include, but are not limitedto:
Designingsyllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet theestablished course description as well as program, course, and college learningoutcomes and/or objectives while addressing each student’s needs as diverselearners.
Meeting all college deadlines for submission of attendance, grades and datacollection for assessment of student learning.
Incorporating learning-centered principles and concepts while motivatingstudents to actively participate in their educational experiences.
Integrating instructional and classroom technology (if applicable)appropriately and effectively to deliver and enhance teaching and learning.
Working collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs ofstudents and the community.
Modeling professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, andinterpersonal skills.


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, HVAC, or relatedfield or an associate's degree and industry certification(s) in the field and4000 hours of work-related experience in the field.
Preferred Experience:
Teaching HVAC or a related field, at a Community College orVocational/Technical institution.
Teaching traditionally underserved populations.


Incorporating technology and multimedia applications into teaching and learningprocess.


Teaching in multiple instructional modalities.


Utilizing Learning Management Systems.
