Waubonsee Community College invites applications for Adjunct Faculty- Computer Aided Design: Civil 3D at the Sugar Grove Campus. The instructor will teach CAD131: Civil Engineering using Civil3D in various delivery modes while preparing syllabi, assessments, and student evaluations.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or an associate degree with 4000 hours of experience) and have Microstation experience.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for delivering curriculum, providing instruction, and performing student learning assessment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Courses at Waubonsee Community College may be offered in various delivery modes including, but not limited to, face-to-face, asynchronous online, synchronous online, hybrid, and flex. However, Waubonsee does not hire fully remote instructors due to the in-person onboarding, faculty development, and student support required.

Civil Engineering Using Civil3D
CAD131: Civil Engineering presents the fundamentals of civil drafting as it relates to land development, property design, topographical and profile layout, subdivision, and road concepts. Students will learn to use Civil 3D software as a tool in civil engineering drafting.

Responsibilities
  • Designing syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet the established course description as well as program, course, and college learning outcomes and/or objectives while addressing each student’s needs as diverse learners.
  • Meeting all college deadlines for submission of attendance, grades and data collection for assessment of student learning.
  • Incorporating learning-centered principles and concepts while motivating students to actively participate in their educational experiences.
  • Integrating instructional and classroom technology (if applicable) appropriately and effectively to deliver and enhance teaching and learning.
  • Working collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs of students and the community.
  • Modeling professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or associates degree and 4000 hours of work-related experience in the field.

Must have experience working with Microstation software

Preferred Experience
  • Teaching in a related field, at a Community College or Vocational/Technical institution.
  • Teaching traditionally underserved populations.
  • Incorporating technology and multimedia applications into the teaching and learning process.
  • Teaching in multiple instructional modalities.
  • Utilizing Learning Management Systems.
