Job summary

Waubonsee Community College is seeking experienced industrial maintenance professionals to train students in mechanical/electrical systems, industrial automation, hydraulics and more. Courses may be offered face-to-face, online, hybrid or flex, requiring strong instructional technology use and real-world expertise.

Adjunct faculty will design curricula, deliver instruction, and assess student learning while meeting college deadlines and participating in collaborative, professional teaching

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Industrial Technology or related field and/or industry certification(s) and 4000 hours of work-related experience.
  • Experience teaching at a Community College or Vocational/Technical institution.
  • Teaching across multiple instructional modalities (face-to-face, online, hybrid, flex).

Responsibilities

  • Design syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet course descriptions and learning outcomes.
  • Meet deadlines for attendance, grades and data collection for assessment of student learning.
  • Motivate students using learning-centered principles to engage in their education.
  • Integrate instructional and classroom technology to deliver and enhance learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to serve the needs of students and the community.
  • Model professionalism with effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Waubonsee Community College is seeking experienced industrial maintenance professionals to help train the next generation of skilled technicians. Whether your expertise is in mechanical systems, electrical systems, industrial automation, hydraulics and pneumatics, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, or manufacturing equipment, your real-world experience can make a direct impact on students preparing for careers in today’s advanced manufacturing and industrial workforce.

Adjunctfaculty members are responsible for delivering curriculum, providinginstruction, and performing student learning assessment. The successfulcandidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional andclassroom technology to enhance teaching and learning. Courses atWaubonsee Community College may be offered in various delivery modes including,but not limited to, face-to-face, asynchronous online, synchronous online,hybrid, and flex.

Essential functions of this position include, but are not limitedto:
  • Designingsyllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet theestablished course description as well as program, course, and college learningoutcomes and/or objectives while addressing each student’s needs as diverselearners.
  • Meeting all college deadlines for submission of attendance, grades and datacollection for assessment of student learning.
  • Incorporating learning-centered principles and concepts while motivatingstudents to actively participate in their educational experiences.
  • Integrating instructional and classroom technology (if applicable)appropriately and effectively to deliver and enhance teaching and learning.
  • Working collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs ofstudents and the community.
  • Modeling professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, andinterpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Industrial Technology or relatedfield and/or industry certification(s) and 4000 hours of work-relatedexperience in the field.

Preferred Experience
  • Experienceteaching at a Community College or Vocational/Technical institution.
  • Teaching traditionally underserved populations.
  • Incorporating technology and multimedia applications into teaching and learningprocess.
  • Teaching in multiple instructional modalities.
  • Utilizing Learning Management Systems.
