Job summary

WSU Tech is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Culinary Arts with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and industry-aligned instruction. You will develop syllabi, lead demonstrations, and guide students toward achieving course goals.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree and at least five years in food service management; ServSafe Manager’s Certificate is preferred and must be obtained within three months. Teaching experience is a plus; hybrid delivery is supported.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ food service management experience in culinary arts or related field.
• Current ServSafe Manager’s Certificate preferred; must obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Teaching or training experience in adult education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and upload an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught in the LMS.
• Conduct engaging classroom lectures and hands-on demonstrations in culinary techniques and safety.
• Communicate objectives, requirements, evaluation criteria, and attendance policies to students.
• Maintain detailed records of student progress, grades, and attendance.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback to students.

Overview / Job Summary

The Adjunct Faculty for Culinary Arts at WSU Tech is responsible for providing engaging instruction and support to students in various culinary courses. This role emphasizes hands‑on learning, culinary techniques, and industry standards to prepare students for careers in the culinary field. As an adjunct instructor, you will have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of culinary professionals while fostering a creative and dynamic learning environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

• Develop and upload an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught within the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Conduct engaging classroom lectures and hands‑on practical demonstrations in culinary techniques, safety protocols, and industry practices.
• Keep students informed about course objectives, requirements, evaluation criteria, and attendance policies.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, grades, and attendance.
• Evaluate students' performance through assessments, practical exams, and regular feedback and provide timely communication to students regarding their progress.

Requirements

Education:

• Associate degree required.

Experience & Skills Needed:

• Minimum 5 years’ food service management experience or related experience in the field of culinary arts and/or food sciences required.
• Current ServSafe Manager’s Certificate preferred. Must obtain within 3 months of hire, required.
• Certified Culinary Educator with ACF or Certified Executive Chef, preferred.
• Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred, with pre‑planning course work.
• Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills where you can work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Ability to quickly learn & use personal computer and various software programs utilized daily in a teaching environment, strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Comfortable with course delivery method being hybrid as needed.
