Job summary

WSU Tech is seeking an Adjunct Faculty for Culinary Arts to provide engaging instruction and support to students in culinary courses, focusing on hands-on learning, techniques, and industry standards to prepare students for culinary careers in a creative, dynamic environment. The role involves developing syllabi, delivering lectures and demonstrations, communicating objectives and policies, maintaining records, and assessing student progress; hybrid delivery as needed.

Compensation is $32/hr.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• Minimum 5 years' food service management experience.
• ServSafe Manager's Certificate preferred; must obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Culinary Educator with ACF or Certified Executive Chef preferred.
• Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred.
• Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and teaching software; hybrid delivery familiarity.
• Hybrid delivery option as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and upload an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught within the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Conduct engaging classroom lectures and hands-on practical demonstrations in culinary techniques, safety protocols, and industry practices.
• Keep students informed about course objectives, requirements, evaluation criteria, and attendance policies.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, grades, and attendance.
• Evaluate students' performance through assessments, practical exams, and regular feedback and provide timely communication to students regarding their progress.

The Adjunct Faculty for Culinary Arts at WSU Tech is responsible for providing engaging instruction and support to students in various culinary courses. This role emphasizes hands-on learning, culinary techniques, and industry standards to prepare students for careers in the culinary field. As an adjunct instructor, you will have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of culinary professionals while fostering a creative and dynamic learning environment.

Your day-to-dayresponsibilitieswill vary, but are not limited to:

• Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills - must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills where you can work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Ability to quickly learn & use personal computer and various software programs utilized daily in a teaching environment, strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Comfortable with course delivery method being hybrid as needed.
