Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking part-time adjunct instructors for Rhetoric and Composition at Fairfield University starting September 2026. Candidates will teach two sections of ENGL 1001 to first-year students, ensuring an engaging learning environment.

Fairfield University is a co‑educational, comprehensive Jesuit university located on a 200‑acre campus along the scenic shoreline community of Fairfield, CT. The Department of English’s award‑winning Core Writing Program invites applications for part‑time adjunct instructors in Rhetoric and Composition starting in September 2026. The selected candidates may teach up to two 3‑credit sections of ENGL 1001 (Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition).

Responsibilities
  • Teach up to two 3‑credit sections of ENGL 1001 (Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition) at the part‑time adjunct level.
  • Provide a rigorous, engaging learning experience for first‑year students.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by the supervisor or department.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or English considered if the candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of the discipline.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching first‑year writing required.
  • Experience in WAC/WID programs preferred.
  • Must have a current Curriculum Vitae and reference information available.
