Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting required; CPA certification preferred.
  • Eight years of accounting experience or five years plus CPA, as applicable.
  • State Vehicle Operator's License or ability to obtain access to worksites.

  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and designs curriculum embracing diversity to foster talent.
  • Maintains attendance records, submits grades timely, and provides progress feedback.
  • Uses technology to enhance learning and communicates expectations clearly to students.
  • Distributes and maintains syllabi; conducts classes punctually and assesses student performance.
  • Engages in regular meetings with department leadership for teaching duties and development.
  • Creates a positive classroom atmosphere and supports student learning inside and outside the classroom.
  • Respects diversity and fosters an inclusive learning environment.

Job Description:

The Adjunct – Accounting position provides quality instruction andmaintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, withmajor emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluatingstudents. The Adjunct role provides instruction and monitorsteaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by theDepartment Chair, or other leadership members. The incumbent mustexhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitaskwhile engaging large groups of people with complicatedmaterial.

Instruction & Student Learning
  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled. Designs curriculumembracing diversity, in all forms, to foster talent in studentswhile modeling inclusive teaching strategies, with an understandingof the sociocultural issues of traditionally underrepresentedgroups.
  • Considers individual differences of students in order to designand support a range of appropriate learning activities.Participates in the identification of students with academic orother needs and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource.
  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature andobjectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly tostudents the expectations concerning the use of such technology.Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance withdepartmental policies.
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits gradestimely, and in accordance with established policies and proceduresof the College, and communicates progress feedback as well as otherrelevant information to students throughout the semester.
  • Distributes and maintains accurate syllabi that incorporatedepartmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements.Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribedmeeting schedule. Employs appropriate assessment techniques tomeasure students’ performance in achieving course goals andobjectives.
  • Engages in periodic meetings with the department, LeadInstructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties andprofessional development.
Student Engagement & Advisement
  • Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages activeand collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge,student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.
  • Uses technology to assist in communication with students.Encourages a sense of community among students for learning bothinside and outside the classroom. Refers students to appropriatestudent and academic support services available at the College orin the community.

  • Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect andinclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of thecommunity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of five (5) yearsof Accounting experience or a business-related Master’s degree witha current CPA and a minimum of eight (8 )years of Accountingexperience.
Additional Licenses:

A State Motor Vehicle Operator'sLicense or demonstrable ability to gain access to worksite(s).

*An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework,and experience may qualify a candidate.

Compensation Details:

Compensation: $55.88 per contact hour

Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour

Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
