Job summary

CT State Community College in Norwalk seeks an Educational Assistant to manage the Adaptive Technology Lab and provide direct academic services for students with disabilities.

You will coordinate testing accommodations, train students on assistive tech such as MAGic and Read & Write, and develop accessible materials while collaborating with Disability Services and Academic Support teams. This is a part-time, on-site role at CT State Norwalk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant educational experience.
• Knowledge of and experience working with academic support programs for students with disabilities.
• Computer literacy and knowledge of educational technology.
• Experience using data/assessments for decision making and planning.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Director of Academic Support and Disability Services Lead.
• Maintains Adaptive Technology Lab and hardware/software; develops processes for AT Lab.
• Manages communication with academic and student services regarding testing accommodations.
• Assists in the implementation and use of the Accommodate software on campus for faculty and students.
• Develops accessible materials for students, faculty, and staff.
• Coordinates alternate location testing appointments with students and instructors.
• Proctors tests for students needing accommodations and helps students with adaptive technology.
• Trains students on adaptive technologies such as Read & Write, MAGic, Speak Q, etc.
• Provides access to ebooks, print, and enlarged materials via resources like accesstext.org, Learning Ally, Bookshare.
• Maintains confidential records and compiles annual year-end report.
• Attends training to stay current with adaptive technology best practices.
