Job summary

Elgin Community College seeks a dedicated professional to support students with disabilities by providing assistive technology, accessible text, and other tools needed to access courses in compliance with ADA, Section 504, and 508. The role includes ongoing case management, follow-up, and collaboration with faculty and staff to promote equity and universal design.

The ideal candidate will manage testing accommodations, provide training on assistive technologies, and ensure accurate documentation

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field and 1–2 years working with individuals with disabilities.
• Strong knowledge of assistive technology and related software/hardware.
• Experience with PDF remediation and accessibility standards.
• Understanding of FERPA privacy guidelines and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Ensure students with disabilities have access to assistive technology and accessible materials.
• Design and deliver one-on-one or small group trainings on assistive tech.
• Assess student tech skills and determine eligibility for accommodations.
• Develop training materials and manage the Alternate Format Textbook Production Program.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure ADA, Section 504, and 508 compliance.
