Job summary

Qualifications

Title:

Coordinator of Accessible Technology

Job Summary:

This position provides technical assistance, training and support to students, faculty, staff and administrators of the College in the implementation of appropriate assistive technologies across all locations to meet the access needs of the campus community. The Coordinator also coordinates and manages accommodated testing requests through the Access Center, ensuring appropriate testing accommodations are implemented in accordance with institutional policies and disability services guidelines. The Coordinator supports the College’s efforts to develop, implement, and maintain accessibility standards for electronic and information technology. This position also assists in coordinating compliance initiatives to promote accessible digital experiences for all users.

Job Duties:

Assist students with disabilities in the acquisition of alternative educational formats, including ordering, maintaining and creating accessible materials, as needed. Train students with disabilities in the implementation and use of appropriate assistive technologies to meet individual access needs and manage student equipment loans and returns. Train faculty in the use of assistive technologies for the classroom to facilitate positive teaching and learning experiences and provide access and equal educational opportunity for all students. Serve as liaison to administrators, faculty and staff regarding initiatives to make the campus more accessible, including conducting trainings and providing input in matters of procurement. Collaborate with other units that have accessible technology responsibilities within the College, especially Information Technology, Distributed Education and Web Design, in promoting universal access, supporting implementation of assistive technologies across campus and planning for new software/hardware. Assist in monitoring compliance with state and federal laws regarding accessible electronic and information technology, specifically WCAG 2.1, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the ADAAA. Provide support in the implementation and revision of the institution’s Accessibility Policies and Procedures. This includes providing input for Alternative Access Plans when materials do not meet accessibility guidelines. Support the technical needs of the Access Center including test proctoring. Travel to regional campuses to provide assistive technology services and testing support as needed. Oversee the intake, scheduling, coordination, and administration of accommodated testing services. Serve on appropriate committees, including the Computing and Technology Committee, and participate in professional development opportunities. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One year of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, note‑taking software, magnifiers).
  • Prior experience in higher education.
  • Prior teaching or training experience.
  • Prior experience with accommodated testing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong end‑user computer skills in both hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards and disability law in higher education.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience reviewing, scheduling, and coordinating testing appointments or other services that require collaboration among multiple stakeholders

Pay Rate: $48,694 - $60,868 annual salary depending on experience
