Job summary

The City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to support youth and adults with disabilities in our traditional recreation programs. You will help ensure safety, assist with planning, and adapt activities to participant needs.

This roster position pays hourly, carries no benefits, and limits to 1,000 hours per year, with opportunities to advance from roster to full-time roles within the city.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• At least 1 year of experience working with persons with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct program leadership and support to youth and adults with disabilities in recreation programs.
• Ensure participant safety during activities.
• Assist in program planning and implement activities.
• Communicate with parents, supervisor and staff regarding participants' needs.
• Make adaptations or modifications to programs/activities.
• Support and encourage participants to engage in all activities.
• Provide close supervision and attend to participants' needs.
• Provide some personal care as needed.
• Monitor and modify behaviors.
• Bus Monitor duties as assigned.
