Job summary

The City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to support youth and adults with disabilities in traditional recreation programs. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, assisting in program planning, communicating with families, and making necessary adaptations to activities.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and 1+ year experience with disabilities; certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• 1+ years' experience working with persons with disabilities.
• Preferred: First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
• Preferred: Behavior Intervention Training.
• Preferred: Athletic coaching experience.
• Preferred: Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Ensure participant's safety.
• Assist in program planning and implement the program.
• Communicate with parents, supervisor, and staff regarding participants' needs.
• Make adaptations or modifications to programs/activities.
• Support and encourage the participant to engage in all activities.
• Close supervision and attentive to the participant's needs.
• Provide some personal care.
• Monitor and modify behaviors.
• Bus Monitor.
