Job summary

City of Greenville is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to help plan, organize, and develop recreational activities for individuals with disabilities. The role includes implementing programs, supervising volunteers, and handling registrations and fees.

The position supports Special Olympics activities, coaches sports, assists with camps, and monitors evening events, with flexible weekday/evening/weekend hours.

Qualifications

  • Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Available to work weekdays, nights, and some weekends, 8-12 hours per week depending on event calendar.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and develop recreational activities/events for individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist in implementing and evaluating programs and supervising volunteers.
  • Answer telephones, provide public information, take registrations and reservations, and collect program fees.
  • Initiate and organize new activities for individuals with disabilities.
  • Participate in Special Olympics practices, trainings, and competitions; lead various Special Olympics sports as a coach; assist with camps and clinics; attend and monitor evening programs and events.
