Job summary

The Frederick County Division of Parks & Recreation is seeking a part-time Adaptive Recreation staff member to support inclusive activities across county parks and recreation centers. Roles include planning, leading, and adapting programs for participants with disabilities, with supervision by a Recreation Specialist or Supervisor.

Applicants should be 18+, have at least 1 year of related experience (or a relevant degree), and hold current First Aid and CPR certifications.

Qualifications

18 years of age.
Minimum 1 year experience working with individuals with disabilities or pursuing a related degree.
Current First Aid and CPR certification (infant/child and adult) or able to obtain prior to start.
Related education may be considered toward the overall requirement.

Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate, and execute lesson plans for adaptive programs for children, teens, and adults with disabilities.
Teach and demonstrate program-related skills and techniques.
Creatively adapt activities to participants' needs.
Maintain behavior protocols when necessary.
Open and close the program area (setup and cleanup).
Ensure return and condition of issued equipment and supplies.
Compile and maintain attendance and progress records by class/participant.
Communicate effectively with participants using age-appropriate language.
Report participant progress to supervisors and parents.
Perform other related duties as required.
