Job summary

The City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department seeks dedicated individuals to support children and adults with disabilities in traditional recreation programs. Counselors ensure safety, implement inclusion plans, and communicate with families and staff to adapt activities as needed.

The role is a roster, non-exempt, hourly position designed to provide hands-on inclusion support and active engagement for participants in community programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's license.
• 1+ years’ experience working with persons with disabilities.
• 1+ years summer camp experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure participant’s safety.
• Create and implement the participant’s inclusion action plan.
• Communicate with parents, supervisor, and center director regarding participant.
• Assist staff to make adaptations or modifications to programs/activities.
• Support and encourage the participant to engage in all activities with other participants.
• Close supervision and attentive to participant’s needs.
• Some personal care.
• Monitoring and modifying behaviors.
