Job summary

District 196 is seeking a Developmental Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE) Teacher for a 1.0 FTE assignment at Deerwood Elementary and a .5 FTE at Black Hawk Middle School. You will lead a specially designed PE program for students with disabilities and collaborate with staff to align with best practices.

Applicants must be licensed in Developmental/Adaptive Physical Education by the Minnesota Department of Education and have experience working with diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the Minnesota Department of Education in Developmental/Adaptive Physical Education.
• Experience working with diverse cultures, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and write IEPs/Behavior Support Plans.

Responsibilities

• Teach curriculum of Independent School District 196 aligning with DAPE best practices.
• Lead a specially designed physical education program for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with staff, parents, and other professionals to support students in least restrictive environments.
• Advocate for students to ensure high achievement and develop social-emotional skills.
• Carry out responsibilities as defined by the master contract.
