Job summary

TELUS Health is seeking a Specialist of Absence and Disability Management in the US to lead the ADA interactive process and manage FMLA/Leaves and STD claims. The role emphasizes compliant claim handling, assessment, and coordination with HR and supervisors to support employees returning to work.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in US Leaves and Disability case management, ADA experience, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in US Leaves and Disability Case Management with knowledge of applicable legislation.
• 3 years of ADA case management experience.
• Associate’s Degree.
• Strong interpersonal and helping skills with superior assessment and problem solving abilities.
• Excellent computer skills and ability to work online in a paperless environment.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish would be an asset.
• Registered professional status in disability management or health sector would be an asset.
• Additional coursework in Occupational Health, Rehabilitation, Disability legislation, Mediation, HR would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage accommodation claims and advise on ADA options.
• Process FMLA and other leaves (military, state, company-specific) and STD claims.
• Manage DOL category claims, recertifications, and second/third opinions.
• Conduct case assessments with employee, manager, and HR to gather information.
• Develop understanding of return-to-work factors and plan.
• Review information and consult LifeWorks resources to decide on approvals/denials.
• Ensure regulatory compliance in FMLA medical certifications.
• Coordinate RTW planning and support with employee and supervisor.
• Attend department meetings and trainings; perform other tasks as assigned.
