Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Therapeutic Assistant to join the 1N Acute Care Unit. The role reports to the Nurse Manager; under the direction of a registered nurse, you provide patient care per the multidisciplinary plan and daily assignment sheet.

You will assist with admissions/discharges, promote safety, support activities of daily living, and help sustain the therapeutic program across day shifts with weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Therapeutic Assistant I requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Therapeutic Assistant II requires Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field, or high school diploma and 1 year of experience in behavioral health or related healthcare.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire; must maintain BLS; certification in TACT and First Aid within 6 months of employment and biannually for BLS/First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care as directed by the multidisciplinary treatment plan and daily assignment sheet under the nurse’s direction.
• Assist with patient admission and discharge processes.
• Monitor safety, support activities of daily living, and uphold the therapeutic program.

Education

Therapeutic Assistant I — High School Diploma or equivalent

Therapeutic Assistant II — Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field, or HS diploma + 1 year of behavioral health/healthcare experience
