Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the Neuro ICR Stroke Unit in NY. You will assess patients, develop care plans, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality nursing care.

Qualifications

• Required: Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of previous hospital acute care experience.
• Experience caring for stroke patients; one year ICR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs and coordinate care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when nursing skills and judgment are needed.
• Administer medications to patients as prescribed.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain current written plan of care and set patient/family goals.
• Document patient/family teaching and ensure alignment with physician instructions.
• Coordinate with staff and participate in unit or hospital quality assurance activities.
