Qualifications

• Associate's degree in respiratory care required; AMA accredited program.
• Registry eligible required; RCP license must be maintained in Maryland/DC.
• NBRC credentials preferred for RRT; CPR/ACLS/NRP/PALS within 1 year where required.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Assesses physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural dimensions; documents educational needs.
• Performs all respiratory therapy treatments and services (oxygen, humidification, ventilation, bronchial hygiene, spirometry, EKG, blood gas).
• Employs therapeutic communication, interviewing, problem solving and crisis intervention during patient care.
• Reviews electronic medical records and physician orders throughout shift.
• Responds to CPR scenarios and maintains airway and ventilation.
• Facilitates workflow efficiency and interdepartmental processes; suggests improvements.
• Performs other duties appropriate to the position; adheres to all policies.
