Job summary

BayCare, a leading health system in the Tampa Bay area, seeks an Acute Care Physical Therapist for St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.

This role provides evidence-based, patient-centered PT services to adults across a wide range of medical and surgical conditions and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to promote recovery and safe discharge. Qualifications

• Required BLS (Basic Life Support).
• Required PT license or eligibility to obtain.
• Temporary PT license with licensure within 6 months.
• Required Bachelor's in Physical Therapy.
• Preferred 1 year of PT experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for acute-care patients.
• Develop and implement individualized evidence-based treatment plans.
• Provide interventions including therapeutic exercise, mobility training, gait, balance, and education.
• Document evaluations and progress notes per hospital policies.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, case managers, rehab therapists and other care team members.
• Assist in discharge planning and recommend next levels of care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making.
• Maintain safety, infection prevention and quality standards.
• Mentor and collaborate with therapy assistants and students as applicable.

In this Acute Care Physical Therapist role, you will provide evidence‑ based, patient-centered physical therapy services to adults with a wide range of medical, surgical, and complex conditions. You’ll collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to optimize mobility, promote recovery, and support safe discharge planning.

Acute Care Physical Therapist Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for acute‑care patients, including those with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, medical/surgical, and trauma‑related conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based treatment plans focused on restoring function, mobility, and independence.
• Provide interventions including therapeutic exercise, functional mobility training, gait training, balance activities, and patient/caregiver education.
• Document evaluations, daily treatments, progress notes, and discharge recommendations in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, case managers, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, and other members of the care team.
• Collaborate on discharge planning, including recommending appropriate next levels of care and durable medical equipment.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to clinical decision‑making.
• Maintain compliance with departmental safety procedures, infection prevention practices, and quality standards.
• Support mentorship, onboarding, and collaboration with therapy assistants and students as applicable.

Requirements:

• Required BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Required PT (Physical Therapy)
• Or PT (Physical Therapy) Eligible to obtain
• Or PT (Physical Therapy) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
• Required Bachelor's Physical Therapy
• Preferred 1 year Physical Therapist
