Job summary

BayCare Health System in Clearwater, FL seeks an Acute Care Physical Therapist to deliver evidence-based care for acute-care patients at Morton Plant Hospital. The role is part-time (30 hours/week, days) with opportunities to collaborate across a multidisciplinary team.

Required BLS, PT license or eligibility within 6 months, and a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy; 1 year of experience preferred. This position supports mentorship and ongoing professional growth within a leading hospital

Qualifications

• Required BLS (Basic Life Support).
• PT license or eligible to obtain within 6 months.
• Bachelor's Physical Therapy is required.
• Preferred 1 year Physical Therapist experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for acute-care patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to restore function and independence.
• Provide interventions including therapeutic exercise, gait training, and balance activities.
• Document evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and discharge recommendations.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other care team members.
• Assist with discharge planning and recommend next levels of care and equipment.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to clinical decisions.
• Maintain compliance with safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
• Mentor and collaborate with therapy assistants and students as applicable.

Acute Care Physical Therapist Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for acute-care patients, including those with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, medical/surgical, and trauma-related conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans focused on restoring function, mobility, and independence.
• Provide interventions including therapeutic exercise, functional mobility training, gait training, balance activities, and patient/caregiver education.
• Document evaluations, daily treatments, progress notes, and discharge recommendations in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, case managers, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, and other members of the care team.
• Collaborate on discharge planning, including recommending appropriate next levels of care and durable medical equipment.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making.
• Maintain compliance with departmental safety procedures, infection prevention practices, and quality standards.
• Support mentorship, onboarding, and collaboration with therapy assistants and students as applicable.

• Or PT (Physical Therapy) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
