Job summary

BayCare in the Tampa Bay area seeks an Acute Care Physical Therapist Assistant to join St. Joseph's North. The role supports PTs with therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and patient education in a hospital setting.

Candidates should have an Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy and PTA licensure (or temporary licensure within 6 months). Full-time hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekend work and no remote work.

Qualifications

• Experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Acute Physical Therapist Assistant Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.

Requirements:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
• Or PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
• Required Associate's Physical Therapy
• Preferred 1-year Physical Therapy Assistant
