Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Acute Physical Therapist Assistant to join our PRN pool at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, FL. The role supports therapists with in-patient rehab, providing therapeutic exercises and gait training on an on-site basis.

The PTA will monitor progress, educate patients and families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining documentation and ensuring safety and infection control per hospital standards.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• PTA credential and licensure within 6 months.
• Required Associate's Physical Therapy.
• Preferred 1 year of Physical Therapy Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Acute Physical Therapist Assistant Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL (Activities of Daily Living) mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Qualifications:

• Experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
